Photography is my obsession, my passion, and my continuing dream. I love anything ethereal, fairytale, and emotionally evocative. I am a modern Romanticist.
I have been creative from an early age, with painting, writing, singing, crafting, and any creative outlet I could find to explore, but ever since my first experience with film photography in the 9th grade, photography has stolen my heart, and imbedded itself into my soul. I find inspiration in the light of the soul and the world around me. Humanity, beautiful women, mysterious beauty, ethereal light and color, emotional elements, my deep connection with nature, and classical painters are all my Muses. I live my life in creativity and my camera is always at my side.
About the work:
I grew up reading lots of fairy tales and roaming the wilderness of Northern Minnesota. As a result, I have an unquenchable sense of wonder and a love for the natural world. I see magic in everything and I am in love with life. What I love most about fairy tales, is that no matter how bad things get in the story, there is always hope and a chance for something better. In today’s’ world, I cannot think of anything we need more than love, wonder and a sense of hope. In creating my work, it is of utmost importance that it be as real as possible. I work to bring each scene into our own reality if only for a moment in time in hopes of somehow making a difference for our own world. Almost everything within the frame of each picture has been either designed or made by myself including the costumes props and sets. The landscapes within the scenes are constructed by Mother Nature and not by Photoshop. There are no composites in my work. I sometimes have the help of a hair and makeup artist, but often, these things are done by me as well. The scenes are as real as I can make them, hand-created and constructed like a miniature film set. I use Photoshop for touch-ups and color toning only. The scenes are created either solely by me, or with the help of a few devoted friends who work for the love of creating. I work on a tiny budget, scavenging and re-purposing where I can, and making the most of donations from folks who love what I do. I hope you enjoy these scenes as much as I enjoyed creating them.
I offer photography workshops and I am available for teaching seminars and private clients. Please email at: firstname.lastname@example.org for booking information.
